Roof Repair & Leak Repair in Jacksonville, FL
“Super easy to work with. Very professional and was able to knock out my roof repairs very quickly.”

Roof Leak Repair That Starts With Finding the Source
A stain on the ceiling is rarely under the hole in the roof. Water travels along underlayment, rafters and drywall before it shows up, which is why guessing at a repair usually means paying for it twice. Our roof repairs start with a free inspection: we walk the roof, check the attic side where we can, and photograph what we find. Then you get a written estimate for the actual fix, not a patch over the symptom.
Roof Repairs We Handle
- Leak detection and repair: We trace the water back to its entry point and fix it there.
- Shingle replacement: Missing, cracked, creased or wind-lifted shingles replaced to match your roof, then hand-sealed.
- Flashing repair: Chimneys, walls, valleys and skylights: the places most Jacksonville leaks begin. We reflash and reseal them so they stay watertight.
- Pipe boots and vents: Cracked rubber boots and rusted vents are cheap to fix and expensive to ignore.
- Flat and low-slope sections: Porch, lanai and addition roofs with seams, blisters or ponding. See our flat roofing page.
- Storm damage repair: From a handful of shingles to tarping and full sections after a storm. For urgent help, see emergency roof repair.
Most repairs are completed in a single visit. If the inspection shows the roof is at the end of its life, we'll tell you that too, with a repair price and a replacement price side by side so you can decide.

Repair or Replace? We’ll Tell You Straight
In most cases, leaking roofs do not need to be replaced unless they are really old. Missing, cracked, or broken shingles can be repaired and replaced to stop a leak, while roofs with multiple leaks or widespread issues should be replaced.
Florida’s 25% rule also plays a part: on roofs built to an older code, repairing a quarter or more of a roof section can require bringing the whole section up to current code. Roofs built to the 2007 Florida Building Code or later have more repair options after a 2022 change in the law. We check which applies to your roof during the inspection, and we explain it in plain English in Repair or replace? Florida’s 25% rule.
Signs a Repair Will Do
- A single leak at a vent, pipe, skylight or chimney.
- A few shingles missing or lifted after a storm.
- Flashing that has separated at a wall or valley.
- The rest of the roof is sealed down, flat and holding its granules.
Signs It’s Time to Talk Replacement
- Leaks in more than one place, or leaks that keep coming back.
- Shingles curling, cracking or shedding granules across whole slopes.
- Soft spots in the decking, or a roof around 20 years old.
Either way, the inspection is free and the estimate is in writing. Learn more about roof replacement in Jacksonville.

Roof Leak Repair
Where Jacksonville Roofs Leak, and Why
After enough repair calls across Duval, St. Johns and Clay counties you see the same culprits. Here is our list, roughly in the order we find them:
- Pipe boots: The rubber collar around plumbing vents cracks after years of Florida sun. It is a small part and one of the most common leaks we fix.
- Wall and chimney flashing: Step flashing and counter-flashing that were sealed with caulk instead of properly lapped fail the day the caulk does.
- Valleys: Debris and granule loss wear valleys out first. Valleys without a membrane underneath leak in heavy rain long before the rest of the roof.
- Nail pops and exposed fasteners: Backed-out nails and unsealed screws on vents, satellite mounts and old solar brackets.
- Wind-lifted shingles: Tabs that broke their seal in a storm let wind-driven rain under the roof even when nothing is visibly missing.
- Skylights: Aging curb-mounted units, failed seals and flashing kits installed without a cricket on the high side.
- Low-slope transitions: Where a porch, lanai or addition roof meets the main house. See flat roofing.
- Gutters and drip edge: Clogged gutters and missing drip edge push water back under the first course of shingles and into the fascia.
Jacksonville averages more than 50 inches of rain a year, most of it in summer thunderstorms that arrive sideways, so a “small” leak gets tested hard every afternoon from June through September. Finding the real entry point the first time is the whole job.

Roof Repair Cost in Jacksonville
What Changes the Price of a Roof Repair
Most repairs are priced as a flat job, not by the hour, and the price is in writing before we start. What moves it:
- What failed: A pipe boot or a few shingles is a quick visit. Reflashing a chimney or rebuilding a valley takes longer and more material.
- Height and pitch: Two-story homes and steep roofs need more equipment and more care.
- Matching materials: Common shingle colors are easy. Discontinued colors, tile profiles and specialty metal panels take sourcing time.
- Hidden damage: If water has been getting in for a while, decking or fascia may need replacing. We photograph what we find and confirm the price before adding anything.
- Roof type: Shingle, metal, tile and flat roofs each need their own materials and techniques, and we repair all four.
If the inspection shows the roof is near the end of its life, you get the repair price and a replacement price side by side. No pressure either way.

Roof Maintenance That Keeps Jacksonville Roofs Dry
- Get a free inspection every spring: Before hurricane season starts June 1. Lifted tabs and cracked boots are cheap to fix in April and expensive in September. Schedule one here.
- Keep gutters and valleys clear: Pine needles and oak leaves are the number-one cause of valley leaks and fascia rot in older Jacksonville neighborhoods.
- Trim trees back from the roof: Branches scrub granules off shingles and are the first thing to land on a roof in a storm.
- Watch the attic, not just the ceiling: Stains on the underside of the decking show up months before they reach the drywall.
- Keep other trades off the roof: Satellite, HVAC, pressure-washing and painting crews cause a surprising share of the repairs we do. Ask them to use walk pads and to tell you where they stepped.
- Treat algae streaks gently: Never pressure-wash shingles. A soft wash, or algae-resistant shingles at your next replacement, handles the black streaks without stripping granules.

Questions & Answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the roof repair inspection free?
Yes. Every job starts with a free, no-pressure roof inspection and a written estimate. If you decide to go another direction, no hard feelings.
How fast can you repair a leaking roof?
Active leaks are a priority. We answer 24/7 for roofing emergencies; if a permanent repair can’t be done immediately, we tarp the area first and schedule the repair right behind it. Most repairs are finished in one visit.
Can you match my existing shingles?
Usually, yes. We match color and profile as closely as the market allows and blend repairs so they don’t stand out. Exact matches on discontinued colors aren’t always possible, and we’ll show you the options before we start.
Why does my roof leak only in heavy rain or wind?
Wind-driven rain gets under lifted shingles and past worn flashing that normal rain never reaches. These leaks are common on the coast and after storms, and they are exactly what our inspection looks for.
Will a repair get my roof through a few more years?
If the roof has life left and the damage is local, a repair is the right answer and we’ll say so. If the roof is at the end of its life, a repair only buys a little time and we’ll give you both prices so you can plan.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Shaka Roofing is a Florida Certified Roofing Contractor (license CCC1335585) and fully insured.
How much does roof repair cost in Jacksonville?
We don’t publish a price per square because no two Jacksonville roofs are the same. A repair is priced by what failed, how high and steep the roof is, how hard the material is to match and whether water has damaged the decking underneath. You get a flat, written price after the free inspection, before any work starts.
Do you repair roofs that another company installed?
Yes. Most of the roofs we repair were installed by someone else. We don’t need to have built the roof to fix it right, and we will tell you honestly if the original installation is the reason it is leaking.
Do I need a permit for a roof repair in Florida?
Small repairs usually don’t require a permit, but larger repairs, anything involving the decking, and repairs that reach a significant share of a roof section can. The threshold varies by building department. We know the rules for every city and county we work in and we handle the permit when one is required.
Can you stop a leak the same day?
Often, yes. Active leaks are our priority, and if a permanent repair can’t be finished right away we dry the area in or tarp it first and schedule the repair right behind it. For after-hours emergencies see [emergency roof repair](/emergency-roof-services).
Why did my leak come back after someone already fixed it?
Usually because the repair went where the stain was instead of where the water was getting in, or because sealant was used where flashing was needed. Caulk is a temporary fix on a Florida roof. We trace the leak to its source and repair it with the right material.

“Sean & David are very professional yet sincere. They gave me a fair quote & I decided to have them redo my whole roof. Everything was done well. They were on scene, checking to make sure all went well. They even fixed the ceiling where my leak was...they are a great company and I will recommend them to everyone. Thanks again for a superb job!!! 🤙”
Melissa H. “Your search is over. Just go ahead and hire Shaka!
My wife and I just bought a home and noticed our detached laundry room ceiling had been leaking along with some spots above our kitchen cabinets. David and Sean came out and immediately (seriously immediately) found the problems. They found some extensive wood rot above the laundry room and some wrinkles in the flat roof above the kitchen. David and the crew were able to fix the rotted beams, replace the roof and damaged drywall in the laundry room as well as find and fix the small leaks above our kitchen. They were able to come in under budget and did a great job cleaning up afterwards. Super thankful for David, Sean and the Shaka crew and they will always be my first call! 🤙🏽”
Seth D. “Helped with a minor repair after Hurricane Helene.”
